Timing wrong for Condi to take NFL post
Cleveland Browns fan Condoleez…, oh, yeah, and Secreatary of State Condoleezza Rice said she has too much left to do in her current gig to run the NFL. Rice, who may be holding out in hopes of landing on the Republican ticket for the 2008 presidential election, has said in the past, maybe jokingly, that the NFL commissioner position is her dream job. Now that Paul Tagliabue is on his way out of the league’s top office in July, Rice could be considered a candidate for the post. New England Patriots owner Bob Craft has said he thinks Condi is “highly competent” to be the NFL boss. “Unfortunately, it came open at the wrong time,” Rice, who is in the Bahamas, said Wednesday in an Associated Press report. “Obviously, I’m very busy as secretary of state, and I continue to be secretary of state as long as the president of the United States will have me.”
