James: Cardinal or Prostitute?

Today, Naked Bootleg welcomes a fresh voice to this space. I, the chief naked bootlegger, am taking a break to study for my salary capology exam and try to learn how the Redskins are spending all that money and still remain under the cap. While I bone up on the cap, Chad in the J.C. signs on as a guest columnist and tells us how Edgerrin James is more prostitute than Cardinal. Enjoy!

Sure! We all want more money... right? Couldn't you use more money at your job? Let's say you have a good job, you enjoy your fellow employees and for the past few years you've been receiving bonuses at the end of the year because of the good work you've done. Although,.... you've not received the BIG bonus – and that is just a little more money than you currently have been making with your bonus the past few years. You live in a very nice house, good neighbors that leave you alone, all you're possessions that you treasure are in this house you've made a home for the past few years... and next year.....it just might be the year you get that BIG bonus.
Then a company across the country calls and says, "Hey, we want you here...and we'll pay you a lot more." Okay, okay, I'll admit all of us perk up and get excited for a little bit. Then (hopefully) we will all look at this new company and say...."You're not a very good company to come work for." Of course they stroke our ego and say,"Yes, but with you working for us we'll be a better company very soon!"
I know I would, BUT would YOU look at the history of the company? Notice that they never have been good. Sure, they are moving into a new facility and maybe can begin to afford to pay more people, but do YOU make that sacrifice? Move across the country…buy a new house furnish it...find new friends that really are your friend? For what? A bigger pay check with (more than likely) no chance of a bonus at the end of the year? Certainly not a chance at that BIG bonus probably ever.
I know you have to look to the future and five years from now when you won't be able to make that kind of money. But, is that what's really important? Would you really go work for a company that's not good and probably not going to improve too much just by you being there - yet, you'll be making more money? The only way this would be different from whoring yourself out is that you actually enjoy it.
The small fan base, more people in your stadium on Saturday than on Sunday (Except when the Cowboys come to town). No national exposure...in fact you will have fallen off the national scene all together. BUT, you'll be making a lot more money!! Is prostitution beginning to enter into your mind? What about the next year.....when coach says.."We're going to try and sign some big offensive lineman to block for you but, we just don't know if we'll be able to afford them" I'm sure this comment will remain in the back of your mind as you turn the block in your new Escalade – you know, the White one that you drive when it rains....not the black one. And sure, you'll think about it because deep down you know that you're not the Pro Bowler - YOU KNOW YOU REALLY ARE - all because of the "Low pay" blocking you have been given. It's not your fault Man!!! You're one of the greatest ever....at least that's what your agent keeps beeping in on your cell to tell you.
Finally, as you open the gates and turn into the driveway of you're desert mansion...with the waterfalls, cascades and pools...why worry....it's only a game right? You've got your future to worry about. Who cares about wins and looses? That's for coach to deal with before he looses his job.
